WINDOC: Worldwide Incubating Platform for DOC Filmmakers

The Worldwide Incubating Platform for DOC Filmmakers (WINDOC) is a collaborative initiative promoted by the National Culture and Arts Foundation (NCAF) and CNEX. The 2015-16 program is designed to provide professional training and international documentary exhibition observation for directors and producers. This includes photography/sound workshops, music composition workshops, editing workshops, basic producer training courses, international documentary basic training workshops, and international exhibition registration training courses. Through discussions with instructors during these workshops, participants can enhance their ideas and creative stimuli, thereby improving the narrative scope of their works.

In addition, to assist in enhancing the creative energy of documentary directors and developing opportunities for international exchange and cooperation, WINDOC arranges attendance at the Asian Side of the Doc (ASD), Sheffield Doc/Fest, International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA), Tokyo Docs, and Docs Port Incheon. This helps expand international perspectives and establish international network resources.

In 2017, WINDOC focused on projects that received documentary production grants from NCAF. The primary objective was to introduce experts from various fields based on specific needs to facilitate creative exchanges and encourage peer discussions to stimulate creative momentum. Key components of the program included “Consultation Meetings,” “Story Workshops,” and “Editing Workshops.” These regular meetings aimed to build a platform for Taiwanese documentary professionals to exchange ideas, providing resources for consultation and discussion throughout the creative process. Depending on the different needs and progress of each case, suitable consultants were identified to participate in exchanges and discussions, helping the works advance to the next appropriate stage.
